maria beatrice coppi at the biennial of Venice

Art is the reflection of times. Art is art if it tells, if it denounces…”

These are the words of Maria Beatrice Coppi, the modenese artist, fiorentina of adoption, who for a long time has used different expressive techniques, from paint to pottery, passing through sculpture, in order to create artwork with a strong visual impact and a deep, and sometimes hidden meaning.
She exposed her works both in Italy and in foreign countries, also receiving prizes and important awards.

In the coming days and till 26th November 2017 the artist will be at the Biennale di Venezia with her artwork “Mediatore di Pace”: a sculpture in bronze and blown glass dedicated to the actual Pope Francesco. An unique work in its kind, soaked with meanings about the complexity of the human soul, the antitheses that characterize it and that in this case find shelter in the asceticism, in the prayer, in the ecclesiastical rectitude.
The mediator is the one who sacrifices himself keeping the parts together, who consumes himself, who searches what unites and in a corrupt society as the one we live in, the work of Maria Beatrice Coppi is set as a strong action of denounce and claim.
To the Biennal exhibition, that is among the most ancient and prestigious international exhibition of contemporary art in the world to promote new tendencies and to shed some light on all the social changes that make Art a powerful medium, this work by Coppi fits perfectly with the Biennal intents, because of her continuous researches and experiments which make of her art a refined and smart solution to the different techniques.
Not by chance, the glass blown manufacture that characterizes the artwork “Mediatore di Pace” occurred through a sophisticated procedure with a difficult yield, reaching a rare expressive wealth.
